Don’t miss World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15-21

ciw-col-med

Artists, inventors, innovators and other creative folks have an excellent opportunity to highlight their work and celebrate the powerful nature of creativity when World Creativity and Innovation Week is celebrated April 15-21. The celebration started as just one day—Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday on April 15—and has expanded to an entire week to contain all the wonderful things that creativity can do.

The organization behind the week describes the celebration, started in 2002, as an opportunity to “enliven, encourage, enjoy and express their creative spirit.”

“Imagine the world united through its creativity. Where everyone takes a moment, a day, or the week to generate new ideas to create a brighter future wherever they are.”

What a wonderful world, indeed!

If you’d like some examples of how individuals, businesses, governments and other groups are honoring the week, check out the list of examples on the World Creativity and Innovation Week site. The site also features the “Innovator’s Prayer” by Gregg Fraley, which is a fun and light reminder of a number of good things to keep in mind when trying to come up with something new!

If you’d like to network with others celebrating this week dedicated to the creative impulse, you can join the organizers’ Facebook group or follow them on Twitter. I’ll be cooking up something special next week to honor creativity on Creative Liberty (since it is this site’s reason for existing!).

The question to you

How will you celebrate World Creativity and Innovation Week?

  1. I’m celebrating by starting a Creativity Incubator. I’ve opened up a Yahoo Group for all creatives who want to make meaning through their creative work. You don’t have to be an artist, just need that “third place” where you can find support and encouragement. (The other two are work and home). I’ve got details at my website:

  2. Liz – thanks so much for this posting. Can’t believe I didn’t see it until today. Getting ready for WCIW 2010, letting the sun shine, illuminate the inner spark.

    Best always,
