Improving Creative Focus: An Audio Meditation to Facilitate “Flow” States

Today, I present another in my series of audio meditations based upon a series of posts I did last year on focusing techniques for the creative person.

The “flow” state, which has been studied by Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and others, is one in which a person’s mental focus is extremely tight, yet it occurs seemingly effortlessly and naturally. This meditation includes a visualization to help you cultivate flow states, and encourage them to happen more often.

The segment is based upon my “focus + flow” post, as well as a very helpful set of instructions for achieving flow offered by personal development blogger Steve Pavalina.

  1. This is wonderful! Thank you!

  2. No wonder why a lot people chooses to have a ‘flowing water’ decorations in their homes. It gives us the feeling of creativity and overflowing ideas, also to relax and meditate. Asa matter of fact, the sound of flowing water helps me to sleep better just by listening to the sound of it before going to bed. That is my personal tip in getting a good night sleep.
